How did we get that pretty look?
I first plaster stenciled the design then primed it to seal the plaster. Then I sponge painted the background (right over the top of the design) in pale sage green wall paint and beige, making sure I ultra blended the two colors in to a very soft treatment.
Once dry, I then used a flat artists brush and simply add metallic gold paint over the raised design only. This is pretty easy to do when the design is raised off the wall because the brush bristles hit only the raised design and not the background color when you lay your brush more flat against the design when you paint.
An easier way? Simply replace the stencil over the design and use your stencil brush to apply the metallic color.
