Create Beautiful Raised Bamboo Designs with Free Style Bamboo
Bamboo has long been a favorite for creating peaceful, nature-inspired spaces, and Free Style Bamboo makes it easy to bring that feeling into your own home. Use it with joint compound for beautiful raised plaster effects or with paint for a more subtle decorative finish.
Because the branches and leaves are separate elements, you have complete freedom to create your own design. Add just a few graceful stalks for a simple accent, or cover an entire wall with a random bamboo grove like the one shown above.
One of my favorite finishes begins with a soft gray wall. Tint your joint compound a slightly darker gray before stenciling to create natural-looking shadows within the raised bamboo. Once everything has dried, lightly highlight the raised stalks with metallic silver paint. The finished effect is elegant, dimensional, and surprisingly easy to achieve.
For the most natural appearance, let some bamboo stalks cross over others, vary the spacing, and place side branches at different heights. These little details make the finished design look like real bamboo growing naturally.
Free Style Bamboo also looks beautiful surrounding a light fixture, decorating cabinet doors, or creating a striking accent wall.
