I had two great frames that I wanted to use in my master bath. But I couldn’t find the exact piece of art I wanted to use in them, so I created my own using stencils.
I first spray painted the frame mats with a similar color to the sea blue I use as the accent color in my bath. Using masking tape, I taped off equal corners and painted them the same cream color I have on the walls.
I stenciled all four corners with different designs, using them as a wallpaper effect. I stenciled with brown craft paint over the light areas and with the cream color over the sea blue areas for contrast.
They came out so pretty!
I painted the insert black, plaster stenciled over it with a cute design and Golden’s hard molding paste (because it stays flexible) and then painted over the design in black, finishing off by painting just the raised design metallic silver.
Now I have some great art pieces in that sweet little alcove.
