Julie McDowell from Dandelions and Poppies is a creative soul and teacher who has discovered our plaster stencils for use on Furniture.

Here, she does a make over on this chest of drawers using our Raised Plaster Palisades Frieze Stencil.

She created a multi-tone back ground over the piece then used this stencil with paint to cover all of the drawers. Creative and so beautiful!

Julie will soon be doing a live tutorial on hometalk.com watch for it!

I’m so proud to call Julie McDowell of Dandelions and Poppies to come up with the brilliant idea of putting artists and charities together!

Here’s what she says about her new group “Paint it Forward”:

Paint it Forward is a collective of artists who wish to give back to their local communities. Inspiring members of this group to select a matter or matters that they care deeply about in their locale, whether it be supporting a struggling neighbor or the homeless shelter down the road. They then use this platform to promote their cause and their work which can be sold for partial or full profit, whatever you can manage! A small act of kindness.

This is about raising awareness, making art matter even more, and paying it forward: one drop at a time

I highly encourage everyone to join this wonderful group! I did!

Our friend Julie McDowell from Dandelions and Poppies shares a new piece she just did with our Raised Plaster Swirls Wallpaper Stencil.

Here’s what she said:

I have had this dresser for many many years, I painted pink and blue for my oldest daughter when she was small, years before I even knew I would be doing this now. We dragged it across the ocean when we moved from the UK to Canada and it has been many colours and even lived in the garage, all alone and forgotten. It is is now resplendent in Fusion Mineral Paint Ash and Brushed Steel. I used a stencil from my favourite stencil designer Victoria Larsen Stencils. I cannot bring myself to sell this piece, sentimental fool that I am!

The combination of the two gray colors is not only striking, but makes this piece so elegant!

The stencil design adds just the right amount of detail to this dresser. I can see why she doesn’t want to sell it!

Wouldn’t this also be an exquisite treatment for a focal wall?
