Decorating with Stencils

Lynn Low, being born of the same "do it yourself" mother I was, is a natural for this business of faux, stenciling and re-dos for clients. But this one, is her own home....

I've watched this kitchen go from it's standard and common pristine white when it was new, to red chili peppers, back to white and now to this beautiful version of "Italian" renaissance with it's deeply colored "old world" walls, graceful window treatments and wrought iron accessories.

The kitchen cabinets made the biggest impression with their raised plaster Belinda Panel design on the fronts and plaster grapes on the facia above.

But Lynn didn't stop at that. Heck no! She too has decided that doing her own molding work isn't that hard. She put up crown molding with corner pediments (found at Lowe's and Home Depot Stores) and painted them a beautiful soft cream to accent the walls and window drapings.

By the way, her kitchen "curtains" cost her all of $30.00 with sale fabric from Walmart! Which just goes to show you that exquisite window coverings don't have to cost you a fortune! Just mimic what the decorators do and save tons while adding elegance to your living areas.
