A fireplace to drool over! |

Donna Lynn is an ordinary person, just like you and I.... OK, just a bit "out of the ordinary" because she will plaster anything that is or isn't nailed down! Check out her fireplace! Is this girl something or what? Raised stenciling on her ceramic tile give this rather plain fireplace front a fabulous new look! You can certainly plaster stencil very slick surfaces. This includes mirror, tile, glass, very slick painted surfaces and so on. First, give the surface a wash of pure white vinegar. This will give it some "tooth" by slightly etching the surface. (Remember that vinegar is actually an acid!) Next, rather than joint compound. Get "Quick Fix" or "Fix-all" (different areas of the country call it by different names). It's actually a wall patch that is in powder form and found in the same aisle as the joint compound in most stores. Mix 2 cups of powder to 1/2 cup of white glue (like Elmer's) and enough water to make a frosting consistency. You must work rather quickly with this product since it begins to set up and harden within 10 minutes, but kids, when it hardens, it's ROCK solid and won't budge! As I said before Donna... "Keep 'em coming"! We're screaming for more! |
