Wall and Drape colors coordinate beautifully

Plaster Stenciled Panels

Kimberley Staniszewski was very excited about her dining room make over! And who can blame her!

The room had great "bones" to start with..."bones" being architectural interest such as the moldings and panels on the wall and those fabulous windows!

But it lacked the "knock 'em dead" appeal that Kimberley envisioned. So she did something about it!

She began by first painting the walls a rich sage green. She chose to stay with neutral tones as she decided upon beiges and browns to compliment the new exciting color.

Rich, warm brown is brought in through the chair coverings and accented by neutral browns in the draperies.

Notice the iridescent floral design in the drapery material which also features just a hint of the chair material color. It's just beautiful and the perfect choice!

Using our Raised Plaster Oriental Dogwood Stencil, she did the design vertically in each of the panels on the lower 1/2 of the wall, incorporating the beautiful brown tones of the drapes in to the design. Ah, but look closer and you will see that she bordered each of the panels with that same beautiful brown tone and also used it as a sponged background color inside the green panels before applying the plaster stencil! Very cool!

She then used the same colors to accent the chair rail molding just above which toned down the stark effect of the white against the deep green walls. Excellent!

Her placement of accent pieces comes right out of Better Homes and Gardens I swear! Hey Kimberley, maybe you should submit your room make over to them! Visit their website at www.bhg.com and look for the link.

Designer's Tips:

When choosing colors to use in your room, choose 2-3 coordinating colors rather than just one. This same room could be done in the exact reverse with the drape color on the walls, the deeper browns as accents and the green in the drape color. Different look, same elegant effect.

Also, try using the same Raised Plaster Stencil design with paint to stencil the iridescent design on to the drapes using metallic paints and then purchase a plain area rug and use the design in a deeper accent color all around the outside to border the rug.
