There are certain people in this world that just have a knack for
creating beauty, and obviously, Cara Morgan
is one of them. Using our
Raised Plaster Grapevine and Mold Stencil Set, she first faux finished
her wall to a soft, warm beige with cream color. That provided the perfect
backdrop to an arch of 3 dimensional grapes, vines and leaves.
The grapes were cast from our mold with plaster of paris then painted
varying colors and depths of reddish purple, soft pink and blue/purple. I
love that! The colors are magnificent and really show off that "artists"
touch.
Ah...but look closer (click photo to enlarge)...is that just a touch
of metallic gold I see gracing some of the grapes? Check out the
leaves. Rather than simply painting them a solid color, it appears she
"glazed" them with green glaze (achieved by simply mixing green paint with
translucent wall glaze) so that the depth of color varied through out each
leaf, but then she also added a bit of her brown tone wall color to the
leaves as well. And yes, I do see a little of the same metallic gold added
to them as well. It's people like Cara that we wind up learning
little tricks from that give our wall stenciling designs that extra punch of
creativity. It's those little tricks that set our walls apart from the
masses and makes them unique, truly beautiful and so easy to live with.
Designers tip:
By keeping your colors less vivid, more subdued and varied this way,
helps to create a design that you don't tire of easily. I'm sure this
creative wall will be part of Cara's home for years and years to come! |
